Equipment

  • bread machine

Ingredients

  • ¾ cup water
  • 3 Tablespoons vegan butter
  • cup plant milk I used oat milk
  • 3 Tablespoons agave
  • 3 Tablespoons molasses
  • cups whole wheat flour
  • 2 cups white bread flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ¾ ounce fast acting yeast see notes

Instructions

  • Melt the butter in the microwave for about 1 minute along with the water.
  • Add the cold plant-milk into the same container. This should cool it down enough so that it will be the right temperature for the yeast.
  • Add the water/butter/milk mixture to the bread machine inner container.
  • Add the molasses and agave.
  • Measure out and add the flours on top along with the salt. Sprinkle the yeast on top.
  • On my bread machine I set the settings to the white cycle, medium crust, and medium loaf. Please read and understand the directions for your bread machine.
  • Press start and let the magic happen! In about 3½ hours you will have hot delcious bread. Enjoy!

Notes

The cook time includes the entire time in the bread machine - including mixing, kneading, rising, and baking.
Use the liquid sweetener of choice. This recipe was developed using agave. I don't use honey but imagine it would work as well.
You may sub in melted coconut oil for the (vegan) butter. You will need to add a little more salt though - about 1/4 teaspoon extra.
For best results, when you measure your flour, lightly spoon it into the measuring cup and then level the top with a flat knife.
For best results, use fast acting yeast. 3/4 ounce is the size of a small package. This is the equivalent of 2 1/4 teaspoons.
This recipe was developed using a Cuisinart Bread Maker. I just bought it a while ago and love it! Make sure you read and understand the directions for the bread machine you use.
